June Club Meeting

We extracted 15 frames of honey.  We then adjourned to the lunch room where one of our most experienced and meticulous members, Kevin Finn, gave a great talk about Preparing Your Hives for Winter.  Kevin covered everything you need to know about preparing your hives for winter which included the following:

• Feeding your bees, types of feeders and food.

• Reducing box numbers.

• The benefits of screened bottom boards.

• The importance of Insulated lids.

• Circulation within the hive.

• How much honey to leave the bees.

• Position of bee food close to the hive cluster.

• Use of fondant as a bee food.
